Forgiveness is important - inability to forgive may act as a blessing blocker

I watched Creflo Dollar today who was speaking about blessing blockers, but focusing on forgiveness. He stressed the need to forgive the transgressions of others, to not hold anger, to let go and forgive.

The bible says "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ...But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions." You remember that right? It's a whole prayer, many of us have said in church, many times in our youth:

Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

You know Cref was really hitting home about forgiveness. He really clarified simple words that have passed my mouth many, many times and still never really noted it. I never gave it the due attention that it required.

All of us have people who have wronged us. We have fought with family or friends some of these fights ended relationships, caused much heartache and we still harbor ill will toward these people. Maybe you have been wronged on a whole different level, maybe you suffer abuse, rape or molestation in your past, maybe you have suffered the loss of a child by kidnapping or death, or other type of crime -- these wrongs carry much more weight, anger, harsh bitter feelings that are not easily forgiven.

Whether we have family squabbles or serious wrongs done to us, we need to learn to forgive. God tells us to forgive. Can you really forgive everyone for everything? I say we can try. I think that God would be happy to see that we are doing everything in our power to at least try to forgive.

Let's start with forgiveness for all the little transgressions done us. Clear those away first. Then look toward the spider webs locking the bad memories, try clearing those webs slowly and working toward forgiveness in GODS name. At least we can try. We can show our willingness to take the steps asked of us. With time working toward forgiveness seeking spiritual guidance along the way, maybe, just maybe we can get where we need to be.

In the mean time, as we begin forgiving transgressions, we can clear our blessing blockers and start to reap the benefits each of us are entitled to receive.

GOD BLESS. If you don't like this entry -- it's ok - I forgive you :)
